Hotdogs

So after last night's raucus birthday happy hour, I did some research- our heated debate on the nature of a hot dog v. a sausage was easily put to rest, with a web definition:

2. hotdog, hot dog, red hot -- (a frankfurter served hot on a bun)3. frank, frankfurter, hotdog, hot dog, dog, wiener, wienerwurst, weenie -- (a smooth-textured sausage of minced beef or pork usually smoked; often served on a bread roll)

looks like we have a clear decision- a hot dog is, in fact, a type of sausage... not it's own unique and delicious category of gastronomic delight....

Is this really what my mornings have become?

Wasting time...

I continue my scheming to bring people over to my new firm for referral bonuses....

There is nothing more deadly than trying to fill 8 hours of a work day with nothing to do... well, I have some things (like 2) to take care of before I leave, but honestly I feel like a lame-duck-consultant (to use the political buzz-word of the money). Really, I could coast and I don't think anyone would care... checking your email nonstop and praying that anyone of 5 websites or so will magically update themselves is brutal... I definitely felt the urge to go to sleep at my desk...

I have, however, become quite good at wandering the office looking for people to waste time with... I think Protege and Engaged One are becoming annoyed with this.

I am a dork...

Ok, so most of you know this, but I am really a dork (hard to believe right?)- and probably at the epitomy of my dorkiness is my newest (and probably only) hobby- a salt water aquarium. I was lucky enough to get an aquarium from Lovely and Amazing Girlfriend for my birthday... and since then, it has lovingly occupied a not insignificant space in my bedroom....

But what is the big deal about that you may ask? Well for those of you who don't already know, saltwater (or "marine" as people in the know call them) aquariums require bacteria... not just a little bit, but whole populations, armies of bacteria in fact... all for the single purpose of eating fish poop.

Sweet. So, in order to establish these little buggers ready to jihad all that fish crap- I have had to essentially care for and monitor a 29 gallon box of water for the past month.... but you see, this is where my dorkiness comes in...

I actually don't mind (in fact I even kind of enjoy it) doing it, it is kinda like some great big chemistry experiment...

I want the cast of Finding Nemo in my tank- I even have plans to hobble a little clown fish so he fits teh part... when I shared this, Lovely and Amazing Girlfriend excercised veto power... and then called me several nasty names...

Closure

So- I have made my decision and will be moving on to turning tricks for a new corporate pimp... yep, same old stuff just doing it in a new place- Large Audit and Consulting Firm here I come! One nice thing will definately be canibalizing the good folks I know at my current firm for referrall bonuses $$$$$ hooray!

The question remains, how to stay motivated until my last day, and what to do with the week off between jobs... trip to NYC anyone?

Sometimes I feel like a sell-out...and then I realize I don't mind...

I am still working on figuring out my 6-months of travel before B-School- it might be tough to take care of everything leading up to it, while gallavanting across the globe... think my mom would be able to handle a position as pseudo secretary/logistics coordinator while I am away? Probably not, I am sure that would get in the way of playing/obsessing with the dog.

Decision Time

So the uncertainty continues... the meeting with my manager to discuss whether I stay at Large Management Consulting Firm or accept the offer at Large Consulting and Audit Firm is set for 2:oo. Close to decision time, eek, and yet, no clear idea of what decision I want to make...

On other fronts, I booked tickets for a holiday in Costa Rica with the lovely and amazing girlfriend... hooray!
